What is Laser Permanent Makeup Removal

The process is almost exactly the same for permanent makeup as it is for removal of tattoos. The laser energy is absorbed by the ink , which is then broken up into smaller pieces. This allows the body’s immune system to absorb it and clear it out of the body. Ideally, the laser inflicts maximum damage to the ink while causing only little injury to the skin.

In most cases, permanent makeup removal takes place over several sessions that are all generally scheduled and completed within 3-8 weeks. The length of the treatment all depends on how big the treated area, how old it is, color of the ink, type of ink, and how deeply it has been injected into the skin. Permanent Makeup Removal
Most people who have their permanent makeup treated with lasers have some mild crusting in the treated area. While the duration of this can vary depending on the exact type of laser that’s used, generally, as a rule, most patients are fully healed within one week after treatment.

One really important point to make about permanent makeup is that with laser treatment, the inks can become oxidized over time, which changes their hue.  This makes them different from tattoo inks. So as you’re going through treatment, your makeup may begin to turn to pale shades of orange (on the lips) and blue (on the eyes/eyebrows). We always caution our patients about this and will recommend that they have colored makeup pencils on hand at home that they can use to cover and camouflage any strange hues that result from treatment. This is a temporary effect, but it can make complete removal of permanent makeup with lasers more difficult too.

Just like with tattoos, a few different lasers may have to be used to fully remove the ink of permanent makeup. You will also have to have several treatments over time as well, since breaking up the ink and clearing from the body is a process that just takes time. It can be several months before the makeup looks completely faded. It is also important for you to know that there are times where treatment with the laser cannot completely remove the ink of permanent makeup.
Eyebrow Makeup Removal in Maryland
The lasers we use to remove permanent and semi-permanent pigment do not affect the hair follicles. Immediately after treatment, the hair may temporarily turn a whitish color, however, this reaction usually subsides after a few hours and the hair returns to its normal color.
How Long does Eyebrow Treatment Take?
Tattoo pigment removal may require more than one session. Because permanent makeup, and other cosmetic tattoos cover a small area and is generally a single color, you may need only one procedure.

Treatments last about 20 minutes. Your permanent makeup will fade after the treatment, continuing to lighten for several weeks. During a follow-up visit, we’ll assess the changes and recommend further treatments if needed.
Recovery from Permanent Makeup and Eyebrow Laser Treatment
Most people return to their normal routines immediately after a treatment. Some people experience minor irritation from the procedure.
